Pros and cons of MarineCast app for iPhone and iPad

MarineCast app good for

Really very good it works great for my location Vancouver Island
I generally dont rate apps but if youre a boater money very well spent! I love it, forecasts textually and graphically, tide current forecasts, wind forecasts. No more guessing on the water which will be the calm side of an island at anchorage! A must have if youre a captain.
Great tool for sailors, could be improved with a wave hight and direction forecast. Additional days too. So far its a great help for my navigation in the Bahamas.
Im surprised any sailor could fault this app. I find the wind prediction module to be the best predictor of wind strength and direction - bar none. Consequently this had allowed me to get many a nights good sleep at anchor . Having said that the maps could be improved, and it is sometimes difficult to figure out exactly where one is on the maps. This app is also very good for skiing. Lets say the weather office is forecasting snow , followed by a high pressure coming in with wind. This app lets you try and figure out when that wind is coming and thus plan for your time on the slopes.
All its feature seem to work extremely well. The wind prediction is always bang on. You do have to get use to the apps colour coding but that is not a big deal. I would not be on the water without this fantastic app.
Hi everyone. I dont often pay for apps on my iPhone, but I have to tell you, if you sail, this app is well worth the price. On land, I finally have a way to see if I should be working or sailing! With Marine Cast, I can instantly see both the marine and wind forecast from anywhere I am. The sailing season on Casco Bay is short and now I never miss the best days. On the water, just being able to quickly read the National Weather Service forecast for my area without tuning to weather band and listening through the rotation is enough to justify the expense. For competitive sailing, MarineCast is a great resource for pulling up-to-date strategic information about where the wind shifts may come from and what conditions to expect throughout the race. The tide information combined with the predictive wind models are absolutely fantastic. For me, to have all of this information in a handheld device, available anytime and anywhere is priceless. As a quick, easy to read handheld source of information, MarineCast is simply the best. I would highly recommend this application to anyone that spends time on the water.

Some bad moments

Dont waste your money. I never leave feedback on these things, but I had to on this one. Its that stupid! (or maybe I am for paying $$$ for it)
Purchased 3 days ago. Most of the reports for western lake Erie are not "currently" available. So far - not impressed.
Poor screen resolution. Less than useful tide charts and generally under developed user interface. Stick with govt weather stations they are far more reliable.
App is busy to much going on, slow to load, not scaled properly, wind graph just difficult to read better off going to webpage to get this information than using MarineCast. There maybe some good information presented in this app but you cannot read it. Demo shots from itunes is misleading
Not useful for me since it only covers sf and the bay... It doesnt go inland enough...
This App is poor. It does not give any information that can be used. The forecast just shows colors, which I assume mean different wind strengths, but there is no scale nor any values to tell you what e predicted wind speed will be. It is useless. The rest of the info just as useless. I wish I did not waste my money.
